Cleaning Advice Brushed Copper (BC)

Brushed Copper (BC)

The brushed copper finish is an architectonic tour-de-force, due to its subtle shine and warm colour. As the brushed finish is applied by hand, the tap acquires a traditional artisan look. The metal finish changes under the influence of air and human contact, so that the material forms a special patina. In this way, the tap acquires a 'lived-in' look, which only becomes more attractive as time goes on. The original brushing and fall of light can contribute to a different effect on the look of each individual item. Kitchen taps, bathroom taps, brackets and shower sets in brushed copper are the finishing touch of any space.

The BC finish is a pure metal finish, it will or can discolour through external uses or influences (oxidation) and form a natural patina, this quality is expected in the product supplied. The naturally formed patina can be polished using silver or copper polish, if necessary.

Living Colours

This finish is part of the Living Colours series. This means that the faucets are finished without surface protection and will develop a natural patina due to external influences. These faucets should not be cleaned with a bathroom cleaner and should only be wiped down with a cloth.

  1. Dry with a soft (hand) towel or cloth.
  2. Be careful when using sharp objects
  3. Remove limescale from the nozzles
  4. Polish the taps with silver or copper polish

Follow these cleaning instructions below to prevent damage and complaints, both when using and cleaning taps and showers Damage caused by the careless use or cleaning is not included in the terms of our warranty. Hotbath items are fully manufactured from high-quality brass.

Tip 1: Dry with a soft (Hand) towel or cloth

After each use, it’s important to thoroughly dry the faucets with a soft (hand) towel. This prevents water spots and limescale buildup, keeping the shine intact.

Tip 2: Be careful with sharp objects

Do not use sharp or abrasive objects when cleaning the faucets. These can damage the surface and cause scratches. We strongly advise against using scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, and microfiber cloths. Also, be cautious with jewelry.

Tip 3: Remove limescale from the nozzles

Limescale can accumulate in the nozzles of the faucets. Regularly removing it ensures optimal water flow and extends the life of the faucet. This can easily be done by rubbing your hand over the nozzles while showering.

Tip 4: Handle with care

Living Colours faucets develop a natural patina that cannot be treated with bathroom cleaners. The faucets can be lightly polished annually with silver or copper polish to better preserve the shine. When polishing, gently follow the brushing direction to avoid damaging the finish. Be careful, as excessive polishing can harm the finish!

What Hotbath does not recommend

  • Using a cleaning agent that contains hydrochloric acid, vinegar or any other aggressive acid or chlorine;
  • Using an (industrial) cleaning agent that contains phosphorus; mixing different cleaning agents;
  • Using aggressive cleaning agents, scouring sponges and microfiber cloths;

Even products like shampoo, colour rinses, shower gels and liquid soap can cause damage. Taps must also be thoroughly rinsed with water afterwards. Using a soft cloth on taps and showers after showering/bathing keeps the products free from limescale for longer.

Important advice when using a water softener

When using a water softener, you must pay close attention to the advice from your supplier regarding the adjustment of the system. Improperly adjusted water softeners can cause irreversible damage to metal surfaces that come into contact with drying shower or bath water. This damage is recognisable by what is known as an orange effect on polished finishes or non-polishable marks on brushed finishes. Hotbath fittings affected in this way are not covered by any form of guarantee.
